Happy Birthday Britton!

Today was Britton's 7th birthday. Aunt Kim made his shark and whale inspired cake. (He hasn't quite been the same since the Discovery Channel had their shark week)

Where does a 7 year old want to go when he can pick any place to celebrate his birthday? To a Chuck E. Cheese's, of course!

Britton really enjoyed playing with the arcade type games. Note to self--it is a good thing that Britton has 9 more years until he can drive. . .notice where his car is located on the screen, he's not even close to actually being ON the road!

Jenna liked the "hit the alligator when he comes out" game.

Korinne was Adam's assistant in all that he did. I couldn't figure out who was having more fun, Adam or the kids.

Now that Britton is 7 he has already tried to renegotiate his bedtime. Yea, nice try. School is starting next week so unfortunately he doesn't have a lot of negotiating power.

All in a day's work

Korinne is very talented. If she ever wants something sweet she helps herself to some yummy hot chocolate mix without telling her Mommy. (Perhaps she thought I wouldn't notice)

She can even play dress-up using only things found in the towel drawer.

And she can always find a great place to put her foam dart gun-- you know, in case she needs it.

That's my girl.

The In-Laws (or should I say Outlaws?!)

Adam's parents were in town last night and his sister Kim came over while they were here. It's not every night that you see something like this (I should preface this by saying something like "it was late. . .it was very very late")

The weapons were little foam dart guns the kids got at the Kerr family reunion last week that shoot when you squeeze the handle and it releases enough air to send the foam dart flying. Clever little toy and completely harmless.

Now here is something you don't see every day. Adam and his Mom duke it out!

We are talking hours of free entertainment here. They laughed at me when I said, "Well, I can certainly see how Adam got to be the way he is with the kids." The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, now does it? :)

Back to What?!

I'm starting to realize that school is starting a lot sooner than I think. I've kind of been in the "summer lasts forever" mode and all of a sudden I'm getting notices about back to school night next week. Next week!? That's just crazy talk! I'll have 2 in school this year and Britton will be gone all day long. I think it will take some time to adjust to the change.

We went to Logan yesterday to check on the house. My siblings who are in still in town wanted to see it so we did a few other fun things in Logan and made a day of it. The kids loved spending time on the grounds of the Logan Temple.

We had lunch on the grass by the Logan Tabernacle. Britton had fun with the monument.

We even made it to the Willow Park Zoo. Um, I use the term "zoo" loosely here. It is a zoo, but you put .50 for kids and 1.00 for adults into a little box to get in (it is totally on the honor system, no one is there to monitor this) . There are monkeys and a few other cool animals to go along with all of the many, many, birds. It you like fowls then the Willow Park Zoo is the place for you! It is a great way to kill an hour or so and the kids loved it.

Last night I went shopping until 11:00 p.m. with my sister Libbie. Yes, you read it right, I went shopping late. My 2 favorite things in the whole wide world--shopping (gag) and staying up late (ugh). What would make me do such a silly thing? My sister Libbie, of course. It was the only time she could go and there was a sale and I had an additional 30% coupon which was going to save her a ton on her much needed warm clothing for Vermont and it's back to school time for me, blah, blah, blah. I know, I know, I'm SUCH a nice sister. :-) I felt it this morning but we both got a lot of great deals so it was all good. It's such an out of character thing to do I thought I should at least document it. Never say never, I guess. I'm just full of surprises.

I Heart My DVR

We love the Olympics at our house. Just when I thought there was nothing better than watching the Olympics on TV I discovered that watching the Olympics with a DVR is WAY BETTER! We record everything and watch it on our timetable and skip over commercials and anything we don't find interesting. LOVE IT! We were busy with the family reunion over the weekend, but were still able to watch the opening ceremonies and get caught up.

All together again

This picture was taken today and includes all 6 Price siblings. What makes this picture amazing is that we all live in a different state-- Texas, Idaho, Florida, Vermont, Utah and Taylor is moving to China in a month. 2 parents, 6 kids, 6 spouses, and 14 grandchildren. We make up quite a group!

On Friday we took all of the kids to the Children's Museum. They LOVED it.

That night with all of the kids in bed and babysitters to hold down the fort all of the adults went to a play at the Desert Star Theater. That is one big date night!

Saturday we went to Mapleton for the Kerr family reunion. My Grandpa Kerr is 94 years old.

It has been a lot of fun to see everyone and the cousins have had a great time playing and getting to know each other.

Week in Review

Britton loves to learn about reptiles and other animals. Every week he gets several books from the library about various animals and that is what he reads during the week. This last week was "Shark Week" on the Discovery Channel and Adam showed Britton a part of one of the shows about the scientists studying shark behavior and Britton LOVED it. He used any and all of his allotted TV time watching shows about people studying sharks. He has now declared that he either wants to be a animal scientist or a zookeeper when he grows up. (I'm just thankful his interest in animals hasn't lead to an interest in having a pet!) Oh, and ever since his tornado dream the other night we still have our nightly talk about how a tornado is NOT going to come during the night, etc. Poor kid, tornadoes just really freak him out. I guess it is a good thing that we don't live in the Midwest.

Korinne is our little independent woman. She dressed herself the other day and came out looking like this:

She put her clothes over her swimming suit, had the shirt on backwards, inside out, and off one shoulder. The shorts were twisted but her shoes were just right! Hey, everyone has to start somewhere, I guess. She was pretty proud of herself for just getting the job done, and frankly, I was too.

It's one of Jenna's favorite times of the year. . .school shopping time. Jenna is one girl who LOVES clothes. She wasn't even 2 years old when I started noticing that clothes were just as important to her as toys. Fortunately for us she doesn't care if the clothes are new or just new to her. :-) I got her a couple pair of jeans this last week for school and for a few hours after seeing them she kept coming to me and hugging me and saying, "Thank you soooo much Mom, I just love them!" I'm sure she will keep things interesting in years to come.
