Once extended family left town after the reunion things still didn't slow down for us. During August 11-15th Britton's soccer team played at the Strikers Cup tournament in Layton. We traveled down 4 times in 5 days for games and Britton's team won every one of them. They were thrilled to win their division and add a medal to their collection. While his team has come in 2nd at a few tournaments, this was their first tournament win so they were pretty excited about it.
I took some really great pictures during the tournament, but they were all lost when my camera card was ruined. The only picture I have now is this poor quality one from Adam's phone. Bummer.
After his Thursday night game at the tournament we all went to Lagoon for a few hours. The new Lagoon ride Cannibal has been open since the beginning of July but we heard reports of having to wait in line for 2 hours to go on it so we hadn't even attempted to ride it yet. While at Lagoon Thursday night we ran into some of our neighbors who said that the line was really only about 35 minutes and they would watch our kids so we could go on it. It was too good of an offer to pass up so Jenna, Adam and I got in line. Britton was definitely NOT going to ride it so he stayed with Korinne and Jameson.
The ride didn't disappoint. It was awesome. We rode it after dark which made it all the more fun. For those of you who haven't had a chance to ride it yet, this video allows you to ride it without really riding it. :-)
By the time Britton's tournament was over we only had 3 days until school started. This year my kids will be in 4 different schools so we spent 2 evenings going to 3 back to school nights (Jameson won't start school until after Labor Day). The day before school started we went to Lagoon for one last hurrah, we just couldn't help ourselves.
In our district school always starts on a Thursday which just happened to be Britton's 14th birthday this year. Lucky him.
Britton's first day of 8th grade and first day as a 14 year old.
Jenna's first day of 7th grade
Britton and Jenna ready to catch the 6:40 a.m. bus.
This is the last year they will have this crazy early bus time and I couldn't be more excited to see it end!
Psych! Britton didn't really ride the bus on the first day because Dad took him to breakfast for his birthday and then drove him to school. Because his school is so far away and has to stop and 2 schools on the way, it doesn't actually start until 8:00 a.m. Yup, a 6:40 bus for 8:00 school. Lame. Too bad a 45 min. round trip to take him to school is enough to make me insist he ride the bus. :-)
Korinne's first day of 4th grade.
She loves her teacher so I think it will be a great school year for her.
That night we celebrated Britton's birthday.

Who looks more excited for the present, J-mo or Britton??
Britton got 2 great gifts. The game Castle Panic (which is everyone's new favorite),
And a foosball table (thank you KSL.com).
Now Britton will have more things to do with his friends when they come over.
Jameson is at a tough age where 1 nap a day is too much, but 0 naps is too little. This week he fell asleep in some interesting places, like kneeling up to the desk in the computer room.
Looks comfy doesn't it?
