Double Digits

Britton has reached a milestone--the big 1-0.  His Birthday requests were as follows: donuts for breakfast, pizza for lunch and peppered shrimp Alfredo for dinner.  He also asked for a thesaurus and dart gun refills.

All his requests were granted and them some.  It was his perfect day. . .well, except for the fact that we all had to get up at 6:00 in the morning.  Jenna's soccer team had a tournament in a city an hour away this week and the championship game was held at 8 a.m. Saturday morning. Her coach wanted them there by 7:15 a.m. which meant that we had to all be in the road by 6:15 a.m. Not Britton's idea of a good time, but he was ok after we told him that the tournament was right by Chuck E. Cheese and we had a great groupon. 

Jenna's team had a good tournament.  Even though they lost in the last minutes of the championship game they were pleased with their 2nd place medals.

Britton was the only person at the awards ceremony who looked like this:

He only had 20 pages left in the 5th Harry Potter book and it was much more interesting to him then watching people get medals for playing soccer so he read through the entire thing.  He "pulled a Hilary" and read an 800 page book in 4 days. Not bad for a 9, I mean 10 year old.  He finished the book just as we were leaving which was exactly 5 minutes after Chuck E. Cheese opened just a few miles away. The timing couldn't have been more perfect.

We made it home in time to open some presents and rest for an hour before heading out for Britton's first soccer game of the season.  After watching Jenna through 2 tournaments, he was excited to finally get his turn to play.

His birthday was even sweeter when they won the game 1-0. I hope to get some better pictures in the future, but we were out of battery and this was all I got.   After Britton's peppered shrimp alfredo dinner the kids watched "Mastermind" with popcorn.  It was the most perfect 10th birthday ever.
