This is the Place

While Britton finished up his soccer season this last week, Jameson is just getting started.

It's nice to be on the same team as his neighborhood friends.

Saturday was a full day for us.  Jenna was up early for an extra ballroom rehearsal from 7-9 a.m., Jameson had a soccer game at 9 a.m. and then we all rushed down to This Is The Place Park for the Genesis Group primary activity.  The Genesis Group was created in 1971 for black LDS people in the Utah. They meet on the first Sunday of the month at 7 p.m. for a fireside with the kids breaking off for Primary. We live so far away it  has made it difficult to attend their meetings during the school year, especially with winter driving conditions, but we are hoping to get to more meetings this Summer. While it's called "Primary" they aren't limited to Sunday primary things so it's really a unique and fun environment. The Primary president told us that they have some African drummers coming for the next meeting and the kids always have a lot of fun with the drums. She said that they usually have about 70-80 kids in Primary each month and about 80% of them have been adopted into white families so it is a great place for the boys to meet a lot of friends just like them. We are excited to get more involved with the group as the boys grow older.

Trying to do stilts

AJ cheesing it up at the petting zoo

Jameson petting the pig

They had baby chicks that the boys could see and hold.

If you point a camera at AJ long enough, you will get this:

Dad and Jameson loving the mini-train ride.

Jameson and AJ got to ride on the caboose the second time around.

In the fall AJ absolutely refused to get on a pony at the AWHC, but yesterday he had no problem getting on the pony at the park.  In fact, he loved it.

We left the park around 3 p.m. and decided to hit Lagoon for an hour on our way home.  It was a nice day so it was super crowded but we were able to get a couple rides in.

It is starting to feel like summer, at least for now (he he), and we are loving it!

The Genesis group sounds perfect. Hopefully you will be able to participate on a regular basis. It's so fun to see pictures of your family. Thanks so much for posting. We love it!
