Happy Birthday Korinne!

Korinne's 10th birthday landed on a Sunday this year, so she went to breakfast with her Dad the day before.  She picked Angie's, a local hotspot, to celebrate breaking into the double digits.

Tonight we had a family birthday party at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Rollerblades!

On Nov 12th Adam and I went to a Nashville Tribute Band concert in town that was also a fundraiser for widows and orphans in Ethiopia.  What a fun concert! I really like the Nashville Tribute Band's tribute to the Prophet Joseph Smith so I was looking forward to hearing their new album "Redeemer" about the life of the Savior.

The band is made up of LDS musicians all living and working in Nashville in the country music industry.  For their day jobs some are members of Diamond Rio, Due West or other groups and some write and produce music for a lot of big names in country music. A few years ago they formed The Nashville Tribute Band as a way to share the gospel through music.  The band is a non-profit group and try to align themselves with good causes, hence the concert as a benefit for the widows and orphans in Ethiopia.  In short they are a bunch of crazy talented musicians trying to do something
good in the world.

This was my attempt at a "Libbie-esque" concert selfie.

We just happened to have a connection with one of the members of the band. Tim Gates, a member of the band Due West, is from Richfield, where Adam grew up.  He was a few grades above Adam in school, but did have a sister in Adam's grade. The band all came out to the foyer after the show so we decided to stick around and say hi to him. We figured sometimes when you travel so much it's nice to see someone from your hometown.  Of course, as we were waiting in line we started to feel a little sheepish as we didn't have anything for them to sign like a lot of the people around us.  When it was our turn Tim looked at Adam and immediately said, "You're a [insert our last name here]!" and gave him a great big man hug.  I tried to take a quick picture, but it ended up blurry.

Then he turned to the band and exclaimed, "Hey guys, his Dad was my stake president growing up and his sister lived in my ward in Nashville for a few years!"

Yes, sometimes it is nice to see someone from your hometown.  You can tell Tim is just a really nice guy.  If you haven't seen his "I'm a Mormon" video profile, go look it up--Tim Gates is his name.

Korinne has been celebrating her 10th birthday for a few weeks now.  Her friend party was last Saturday.  Adam took her to the store to pick out a cake and frosting, and this is the color she ended up with, aqua blue.

There is nothing natural about bright neon blue frosting that leaves everything it touches blue for longer than normal, but Korinne loved it.

She decorated her own cake and did a great job.

She invited 4 friends to her party.  They had cake and ice cream and opened presents at our house before going to the movie theater to watch the 3:50 showing of "Peanuts".

J-mo and Jenna were both in photobombing mode.

The kids put the trampoline on the downhill portion of the yard this last week and had a blast all week long jumping on uneven terrain.

The girls especially liked what it did to their hair.
