November Part I

The post Halloween candy rush is not a favorite with me so my strategy is to let them eat it all as fast as they can so we can just be done with it. It is usually gone within 48 hours. This year we offered to buy back Jameson's Halloween candy, but he told us that the only price that would make him even think about was $99.00. Yeah, I don't think so. When candy is sitting in front of him, money means absolutely nothing to him.

We left the day after Halloween for a quick trip to St. George to see Adam's brother Loren's temple sealing to his wife Trisha.  We only had 3 weeks of notice, but Loren and Trisha were able to get an appointment on the last day that the St. George Temple was open. It is now closed for 3 years for renovations.

Since the entire family came for the event we ended up getting a hotel for Saturday night. The boys LOVED swimming in the pool and eating breakfast the next morning.

Britton is really good at forgetting to tell us about his school events. We were eating dinner one night this week and he casually mentioned how Ridgeline fared at the Academic Olympiad he participated in. Wait, what? When was that? "Oh, it was today." Ugh. A heads up would have been nice! Ridgeline takes the top 9 ACT scores in the school and appoints them to the Ridgeline Academic Olympiad team. This year they had 2 seniors with a 35 ACT score, 3 seniors with a 34 (Britton was one of these), and a couple of 33's and 32's. Not too shabby.

They each got a sweatshirt (which the teacher messed up on and didn't change the year on the front) with their names on the back.

Britton said the winning high school had 9 kids on the team and the lowest ACT score among them was 35. That is CRaZy!

The very next night I saw Britton rushing around getting ready for something. It was a Thursday so I asked him "Why are you dressed up?" He replied, "Oh, I'm going to my choir concert." Wait, what?! It was the first any of us had heard about a choir concert.  I ended up running down to the school so someone would be there to hear him sing with Rhapsody. 

The Harlem Globetrotters made a stop on their tour to visit our High School. Yes, you read that right, the actual HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS performed at Ridgeline High School Friday night. Adam took Jameson to the game and they had a fantastic time. The very next day the HGT had 2 shows at Vivent Arena in SLC, but on Friday night we had them to ourselves in our humble high school gym in a small town.  Our neighbor Jim who works at the high school said they got an e-mail one day saying the Harlem Globetrotters would be around on a certain day if they were interested in having them. They almost didn't reply because they thought it was a hoax, but it turns out it was legit. I guess the HGT like to open up some small venue shows while they tour the country just for fun.

After the game Jameson was able to meet the players and get autographs.

 Last night was the Sadie Hawkins dance at the High School and Disco was the theme. Jenna asked a special needs boy to the dance and they had a great time.  He has Autism but is pretty high functioning and very sweet. He was absolutely thrilled to be asked to a girls choice dance and told the entire school about it for weeks. Jenna was great about coordinating everything with his Mom who was very appreciative that her son was included in the festivities.  I don't have a group pictures yet, but I do have one of Jenna's disco outfit. She definitely looked the part!

Britton's date came to pick him up while Adam and I were out on a date, but Korinne was able to snap a quick picture for us.

Fortunately for us the weather has warmed up a bit so it isn't as cold as it was in October. Yay!
