"I'm going to Boise!"

On Labor Day this year we went to visit Adam's sister Kristi and became acquainted with the booming metropolis that is American Falls. Kristi and her family recently moved to the area and for some reason I thought it was going to be just a tad bit bigger than it is.  I was thinking Blackfoot size, but really it only has a population of 4,400.  We went up Sunday afternoon and on Monday Kristi really showed us around the town.  We visited the fish hatchery and then loaded up kayaks and went to the reservoir.  Who knew American Falls had a reservoir?

Unfortunately I didn't manage to get a picture of Kristi,Topher and Sarah.  Their older two daughters are on a mission and at BYU.

Britton asked a girl to Homecoming last week and she replied on Wednesday night.  The message said, "I'll go to Homecoming with you when pigs fly" and when he opened the box the piggy decorated balloons flew out and there was a "yes" at the bottom of the box.  Clever.

It was my first taste of the high school dance asking/answering hoopla since I was in high school and it looks like it hasn't changed much. 

Britton and Jenna had 2 cross country races this week.  Once was a duel meet in the valley and the other was a huge invitational in Murray.

The coach's instructions for the Wednesday meet was to NOT go race pace, but just do a tempo run so they could save their legs for the Invitational 2 days later.  Even without going full speed they still managed to beat the other team in both the boys and girls race. Jenna's ballroom dance started on Wednesday afternoon at 4 and since she can't miss any of those practices she won't be able to run the next few Wednesday races. She did run in the Murray Invitation, however.

The Murray Invitational is a big deal for Ridgeline runners if they want to go to the Bob Fuhrman Invitational in Boise on Sept 23rd. Ridgeline takes their top 12 boys and 12 girls to the race and the Murray meet decides who will go.  Britton really wanted to qualify and was gunning for that 12th spot (there are between 50-60 boys on the team).  He had a great race and got a PR, but came in as Ridgeline's 13th runner. Fortunately for him 2 of the top 12 boys are providing their own transportation to Boise so they opened it up to Britton and the kid that finished just behind him at Murray. Guess we better start planning our trip to Boise.

Jameson had his first soccer game of the season yesterday and it was HOT.  I keep thinking fall weather will start kicking in, but we are still having summer temperatures around here.

Britton also had a soccer game on Saturday morning, but I didn't get a picture.  His team won 2-1. We've had to juggle club soccer and cross country and this year we have had some conflicts.  It's a tricky balance because Britton really wants to improve in XC, but his club soccer coach is one of the JV coaches at the high school so he doesn't want to make him mad either.
