Last week Jenna missed a day of school and the 2 of us traveled to Idaho Falls for Gem State, a ballroom dance competition. Fortunately Aunt Heather lives nearby so we were able to stay with her and visit with cousins when we weren't at the competition on Friday and Saturday.
Friday was the team dance competition and there were 179 performances that went for 12 straight hours without a break. Teams came from several states and each team did multiple dances. We only made it through about 95 performances before we were ready to go. I really enjoy watching team events until I hit the 7 hour mark and then I'm done. Jenna's team danced twice near the beginning of the day so she was ok to leave with me around 4 p.m.

Saturday we had to be back at competition by 7:30 a.m. and Jenna participated in the Syllabus portion of the competition. She danced the Swing, Tango, Paso Doble, and Cha Cha and advanced to the semi finals in both the Tango and the Cha Cha.
Jenna and partner dancing the Tango. What great form!
Cousins Anna and Elsie enjoyed watching some of the rounds on Saturday. This was the final (and biggest) competition of the season and I must say that Jenna thoroughly enjoyed her first year of ballroom dance.
Britton has been plenty busy with soccer playing both at home and away this week.

The weather has been hit or miss so we either have gorgeous weather or are freezing with blankets and umbrellas and sipping hot chocolate. Britton has been playing very well and has started in most of the JV games this year. The stadium seats that we bought for Jenna's competitions are coming in very handy for Britton's games, too, since now we are sitting in bleachers instead of portable chairs. Soccer has definitely put a damper on our spring break plans this year because there are 2 games the week of spring break and regular practices every day even though school is out all week. It looks like Adam will take Jenna, Korinne and Jameson to S.G. as usual this week and I'll stay home with Britton. I guess this is our official welcome to the world of high school sports.
In FHE last week we had fun seeing which member of the family had the most quirky abilities. We tested the following skills: who could whistle, raise one eyebrow, wiggle their ears, flare their nostrils, roll their tongue, rotate their tongue completely upside down, wink and touch their nose with their tongue. So, who had the most skills?? That would be Hilary scoring 6 out of 8! Adam came in second with 5, Jameson was next with 4, Jenna got 3 and Britton and Korinne finished with only 1 skill each. I must say I was quite shocked to discover that none of our kids can whistle. What?? How is that possible?! Try as they might they just couldn't figure out how to whistle. Looks like we have our work cut out for us. Here is the breakdown of our amazing(ly quirky) talents and abilities:
Hilary can: whistle, raise one eyebrow, flare nostrils, roll tongue, rotate tongue completely and wink
Adam can: whistle, raise one eyebrow, wiggle ears, wink and touch his nose with his tongue
Jameson can: raise one eyebrow, wiggle his ears, rotate his tongue completely and wink
Jenna can: raise one eyebrow, wink and touch her nose with her tongue
Britton can: wink
Korinne can: roll her tongue
Today we measured everyone's height and they are as follows:
Adam: 6'
Hilary 5'4"
Britton: 5'7"
Jenna: 5'4"
Korinne: 4'10" (She is now Grammie sized)
Jameson is 3'11"
We love General Conference weekend and really enjoyed having Adam home with us all day today. Happy Spring to all!
