Over Labor Day weekend we went camping. . . .
If you can call spending 3 hours in the canyon by a babbling brook eating a dutch oven dinner "camping". We felt completely fulfilled by our outdoor experience and decided it
totally counted as a camping expedition which would be our first family camping trip, since. . .well, ever. We have a canyon about 5 min. from our house so we can literally be in the mountains at a camping site by a stream in
5 minutes. It is not a busy canyon so the entire time we were there on Labor Day weekend 2 cars passed by on the road and we saw 2 bikers on a nearby trail. That was it. It was quiet, the weather was perfect and with 2 other families the kids had a great time. Not to mention the dutch oven food was awe-some.
In just 3 hours the kids got really dirty. Yeah, not just a little bit, a LOT.
Maybe next time we "camp" we might even spent the night. . . . .nah, who are we kidding? We are big fans of 3 to 4 hour camping followed by warm baths and comfy beds.

That's my kind of camping!
Nate read this post before me and said, "What?!? That so doesn't count." But you can call it whatever you want. It looks like camping in the pictures.
We're hoping to fit in a camping trip sometime during the next few weeks. We'll REALLY miss the mountains, but at least we've got the beach. s'mores taste the same either place!
I love your definition of camping. Dutch oven dinner sounds good right now.
